侧出LED背光动态调光算法研究

摘要
液晶显示具有对比度和能效不高的问题。动态调光可以有效提高液晶显示对比度并降低能耗。针对市场主流背光产品, 提出了用于侧出式背光的全局调光算法。根据图像特征值, 确定背光调光亮度。根据S曲线方程, 对液晶像素进行补偿, 高于S曲线拐点的像素亮度值增加, 低于拐点的亮度值减少, 有效提高静态对比度。最后进行了软件仿真, 并开发了工程化样机。播放包括常见电视内容的视频, 平均节能率为17%, 没有人眼感知的失真。
Abstract
Liquid crystal displays have two shortcomings of low CR and power efficiency. Dynamic dimming can help LCD to achieve high contrast ratio and reduce power consumption. Aimed at main-stream backlight products, the paper proposes a global dimming algorithm. The dimming level of the backlight and S-shaped curve are determined based on the characteristic parameters of an input image. The pixels with higher grayscales become brighter and the pixels with smaller grayscales become darker, which improves contrast efficiently.The engineering prototype is developed. When displaying the video consisting different contents common on TVs, the average power reduction ratio reaches 17%. There are no human perceived distortions.
