Optical Switches Based on FBG with Anisotropic Cladding
摘要
为降低电光开关的插入损耗及简化其结构, 提出了一种利用包层各向异性的FBG(光纤布拉格光栅)制作光开关的新思路, 并用耦合模理论对其原理进行了分析; 同时, 提供了一种用掺镁 LiTaO3晶体作为光栅包层制作这种光开关的方法。仿真结果表明, 电场改变106 V/m时, 消光比可达到约42.32 dB。该光开关具有较高的消光比, 且相比于现有的FBG光开关, 具有更简单的结构。
Abstract
In order to reduce the insertion losses of electro-optic switches and simplify their structures,a new idea of fabricating optical switches based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) with anisotropic cladding is presented,and its principle is analyzed by using the coupled-mode theory. At the same time, a method of manufacturing this kind of optical switches is provided by using Mg-doped LiTaO3 crystal as the grating cladding.Simulation results show that when electric field changes by 106 V/m, the extinction ratio rise to about 42.32 dB and compared with the existing FBG optical switches, these switches have higher extinction ratio and are even simpler in structure.
