微通道板型光电倍增管分压比与能量分辨率关系研究

摘要
为了提升微通道板型光电倍增管( MCP-PMT)能量分辨率,研究不同分压比对能量分辨率的影响,通过分析光电子从入射到倍增的过程,研究影响 MCP-PMT能量分辨率的因素。通过调节光电倍增管( PMT)聚焦极电压、两片通道板分压以及通道板间隙电压解决了增益动态范围小、能量分辨率差的问题。实验结果表明,减小聚焦极电压可提高分辨率但收集效率会降低,提高 MCP2电压后分辨率略有降低同时动态范围大幅提高,通道板间加反向电压可显著提升能量分辨率。根据实验结果,设计了一种 MCP1与 MCP2分压比 1:1.6、通道板间隙加-35 V反向电压的分压器,将其应用于 50只样管,并对样管进行测试,其平均能量分辨率从 44减小到 33,有效地改善了微通道板型光电倍增管的能量分辨率。
Abstract
To improve the energy resolution of microchannel plate photomultiplier tubes(MCP-PMT), the influence of different voltage dividers on energy resolution is studied. The factors affecting the energy resolution of MCP-PMT were studied by analyzing the process of photoelectron from incidence to the multiplication stage. By adjusting the voltage of the PMT focusing electrode, two pieces of the MCP, and the gap voltage of the MCP, the problems of low dynamic range and poor energy resolution were solved. The experimental results show that the energy resolution can be improved by decreasing the focus voltage; but this might result in the reduction of collection efficiency. Improving the MCP2 voltage can slightly reduce the resolution and significantly increase the dynamic gain range. The energy resolution can be significantly improved by applying reverse voltage between the MCPs. According to the results of the experiment, a voltage divider with voltage ratio 1:1.6 for MCP1 and MCP2 and-35 V reverse voltage between two MCPs is designed, It was applied and tested on 50 sample tubes, and the average energy resolution of the tested sample tubes was reduced from 44 to 33. The test results show that the voltage divider can effectively improve the energy resolution of MCP-PMT.
