掺镱双包层光纤吸收特性的研究

摘要
对掺镱双包层光纤的吸收特性进行了研究。采用光纤截断法和包层模剥除技术,实现了掺镱双包层光纤纤芯吸收系数的精确测量,测量结果与实际吸收系数的测量误差小于5%。利用白光光源测量掺镱双包层光纤的损耗谱,对其有效吸收系数进行了详细的实验研究,发现有效吸收系数随着光纤长度的增加而减小,随着光纤纤芯直径的增加而增大,在不同弯曲状态下有效吸收系数的测量表明,在弯曲时不同内包层形状的掺镱双包层光纤的吸收特性并不相同,其中D型掺镱双包层光纤对976 nm波长的有效吸收系数没有增大。
Abstract
Ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber absorption characteristics is studied. Through the method of fiber-cutting and the technology of clad-mode peeling, the core absorption coefficient of ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber is measured precisely. The error between the measurement result and the real absorption coefficient is less than 5%. With the white light, the attenuation spectrum and effective absorption coefficient of ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber is studied experimentally in detail. The results indicate that the effective absorption coefficient of ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber decreases with the increase of the fiber length, and increases as the double-clad fiber core diameter is increased. Under the different double-clad fiber bend radius, the influence of the inner-clad shape on the absorption characteristics is investigated. It is shown that the effective absorption coefficient of D-shape ytterbium-doped double-clad fiber at 976 nm wavelength does not increase with the fiber bend. The experimental results are explained and analyzed qualitatively.
