The 2nd International Conference on Matter and Radiation at Extremes (ICMRE2017), hosted by the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics China, was successfully held on June 26-30 at the Nirvana Resort, Beijing, China. It attracted over 230 attendees from 9 countries, with 16 plenary talks, 31 invited talks, 48 orals and 51 posters. Traditional research fields of fusion research were highly welcomed in the conference, i.e. the recent progress of reactors and lasers in world-class facilities, fundamental physical processes, modeling and simulations. High pressure physics and materials science were also important topics in the conference. Besides, other hotspots such as superconducting quantum circuits also attracted lots of attentions. The conference provided a platform for scientists and engineers worldwide to share their recent developments in frontiers of theory, experiments and numerical methods in extreme physics.

International Conference on Matter and Radiation at Extremes (ICMRE) is a conference series that will be held each year since 2016, with topics focused on MRE’s scope.

The 3rd ICMRE will take place in Qingdao, China, 2018, with topics covering Laser- and Particle Beam Fusion, Pulsed Power Technology and High Power Electromagnetics. Follow us on MRE’s homepage for more detailed announcement of the conference.
