It is rare for a conventional direct detection method to measure the transmittance uniformity of mirrors with rigorous standards, especially to meet the requirement of transmittance/reflectance and phase detection simultaneously. In this study, a new method of self-calibrated balanced heterodyne detection (SCBHD) is proposed. It can be self-calibrated by a two-channel structure to overcome the environmental effects in large optics scanning detection by employing highly accurate heterodyne interference. A typical transmittance measurement experiment was performed at 1053 nm wavelength via SCBHD. A standard deviation (SD) of 0.038% was achieved in the preliminary experiment. The experimental results prove to reduce the SD by approximately two orders of magnitude compared with the conventional direct detection method in the same condition. The proposed method was verified as being promising not only for its wider dynamic measurement range and its higher accuracy but also for its simultaneous transmittance and phase detection ability.

We show that Fourier-plane imaging in conjunction with the Kretschmann–Raether configuration can be used for measuring polariton dispersion with spatial discrimination of the sample, over the whole visible spectral range. We demonstrate the functionality of our design on several architectures, including plasmonic waveguides, and show that our new design enables the measurement of plasmonic dispersion curves of spatially inhomogeneous structures with features as small as 3 μm, in a single shot.

We observe the third-harmonic generation and second-harmonic generation together with element fluorescence from the interaction of a femtosecond laser filament with a rough surface sample (sandy soil) in non-phase-matched directions. The harmonics prove to originate from the phase-matched surface harmonics and air filament, then scatter in non-phase-matched directions due to the rough surface. These harmonics occurr when the sample is in the region before and after the laser filament, where the laser intensity is not high enough to excite the element fluorescence. The observed harmonics are related to the element spectroscopy, which will benefit the understanding of the interaction of the laser filament with a solid and be helpful for the application on filament induced breakdown spectroscopy.

A hyperspectral imaging system is developed to detect dichlorvos residue on the surface of navel orange. After acquiring hyperspectral images of 400 navel oranges, the actual content of dichlorvos residue is measured by gas chromatography. Optimal wavelengths are extracted using the regression coefficients of partial least squares (PLS), and a PLS model with 12 factors is established. In the prediction set of 0.2282?11.652-mg/kg pesticide residue, the correlation coefficient and the root mean standard error are 0.8320 and 1.3416, respectively. The hyperspectral imaging technology can meet the requirement of online fast nondestructive detection.

The wave packet dynamics of the photodetachment of H- near dielectric surface are studied by using the wave packet evolution and the autocorrelation function. The results show that the evolutions of the autocorrelation function and the wave packet in the time domain correspond well with each other. Besides, we consider the influence of the electronic state lifetime on the wave packet evolution and the autocorrelation function. Numerical simulation shows that the evolution of the photodetached electronic wave packet near the dielectric surface exhibits some properties similar to the time-resolved two-photon photoemission intensity of surface electron.
